Yuka was launched in France several years ago as a tool for analyzing food data. It is a great app which can analyze food or cosmetic products. Users can know which product they prefer via the label by using the Yuka app. You just need to simply scan the product’s barcode to bring up the information on the screen. The information includes the nutritional quality (fats, sugars, etc.) and the additives (colorants, preservatives, etc.). This app is enough to guide you in your purchases.

Features:

· Analyze food items, providing a detailed data sheet for each product.

· Analyze hygiene and cosmetic products,  giving a detailed data sheet for each product.

· A brief color code lets you understand the product’s impact on your health easily.

· Offline mode lets you scan your items even when your phone has no signal.

· A 100% independent project makes it entirely objective.

· Offers recommendations for similar items which are better.

· Displays the products you have already scanned.

Is Yuka a trustworthy app?

Yuka is pretty effective when advising against particular products because of the presence of potentially harmful additives. It is the comprehensive database, including 1,5 million food products, 500,000 cosmetic products and 800 new products every day that makes it trustworthy.

How much does Yuka cost?

Yuka is a free app which allows you to scan the barcodes of food and other products and see their impact on your health. You can choose a Yuka Premium subscription at $13.99/year to access a search bar, an offline mode, and unlimited history.

How are food products rated ?

Yuka’s food product scores are based on three criteria:

· Nutritional quality is 60% of the score.

· The presence of additives is 30% of the score.

· The organic dimension is 10% of the score.

How are cosmetic products evaluated ?

The scoring system for cosmetics analyses every ingredient that goes into the product. Ingredients are classified into four risk categories:

· Risk-free (green dot)

· Low risk (yellow dot)

· Moderate risk (orange dot)

· Hazardous (red dot)
